Spotify for Linux

I’ve been running Ubuntu as my primary OS lately and just found the Spotify install directions.  If your a Linux and Spotify fan, here’s how to get it installed.   It is a preview build, so has little support from Spotify, check their website for details.

For Ubuntu

1. Add this line to your list of repositories by editing your /etc/apt/sources.list with your editor of choice (I prefer vim).  deb http://repository.spotify.com stable non-free
Note: You’ll need to sudo in order to edit the file as it is read only otherwise.

2. If you want to verify the downloaded packages, you will need to add the Spotify public key
sudo apt-key adv –keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com –recv-keys 4E9CFF4E

3. Run apt-get update
sudo apt-get update

4. Install Spotify
sudo apt-get install spotify-client
